I often find myself engrossed in books about purpose, goals, vision and behavioral patterns. To say I love reading new insights, wisdom or perspective is an understatement. I often have 3-5 books going at the same time, filling sticky notes with thoughts and running my highlighter through key concepts.

Recently, I had a new awareness and it’s all about people.

I realized I can read hundreds of books, apply concepts or inspire new things—and yet, depending on WHO I am around, I either feel more energy or struggle to even put one foot forward. I think about the movie, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. There is a place called Whoville where everyone is happy. They sing, dance, support each other and have an incredible community.

We can all create our own Whoville. When I pay attention to WHO I am spending time with, what conversations I am having with individuals and who I am sharing my dreams and visions with, it makes all the difference. I experience more:

• Love
• Creativity
• Insightfulness
• Championing
• Perspective
• Belief
• Trust
• Positivity
• Empathy
• Compassion

People Matter. The types of people and energy we invite into our lives can make the difference between moving things forward, choosing to stay exactly where we are or even going backwards. It can all be used for purpose AND I also believe that the “right” people in our lives help us grow and bring more of ourselves into the world. 

My question for you today is, Who is in Your Whoville? Who are those individuals that:

• Call you forth in your best self?
• Inspire greatness?
• Remind you of your brilliance?
• Hold space for your journey?
• Love you, care for you, embrace all of you?

Friends, life moves quickly. I don’t know about you, but I want my Whoville to champion me in life while I do the same for them. I want the commodity of time to be spent wisely and with intention—this includes my WHO’s.
