Five Key Actions to Making It Real

As I observe the world right now, I see a few things that concern me. Have you noticed any of these:

  • Avoidance
  • “Masking”
  • A lot of little itty bitty lies adding up to big ones

I’m seeing it more and more. And as a coach, I get curious and then want to offer a piece of wisdom or insight that may help someone—or maybe even a lot of people—find a way to move past this.  There is something going on at a deeper level, where people are afraid to:

  • REALLY speak what is being thought
  • Show up in a completely true and authentic self
  • Admit mistakes due to the perfectionism or fear of rejection belief system

Is any of this ringing true to you? I came up with five key actions that each of us can do to get back in touch with who we are at our core and how we want to show up in the world.

Reflection: This where it starts. Taking time to reflect on who you are being is essential. Notice what you want to stop doing, keep doing, and what may be a good idea to start.

Reground: I believe that grounding is essential. Grounding our physical, emotional and spiritual beings on a daily basis sets us up for success and equips our body with what it needs to move about each day with grace and ease.

Reorganize: After you did a little reflecting, what did you notice about places in your life where you may need to reorganize a few things? This could mean changing your bed time, wake up time, nighttime routine, where you put certain tasks, the way you set up your coffee bar…you get the idea. Reorganizing may be physical space, attention to processing emotions, taking time for a spiritual focus and more. Trust your intuition to guide you.

Reenergize: Let’s face it, the past few years have been draining for most of us. We have continued to adapt, stay resilient, and keep things moving. The challenge is that in the process many of us have forgotten to take time to rest and rejuvenate. This is essential for us to reenergize. I’m not just talking about sleep. Reenergizing can come from doing activities we enjoy. There is an element of self-care here.  What is something you do that helps you reenergize? I invite you to commit to reenergizing time not just once a lifetime, but on a consistent basis.

Recommit: As you look at these actions, what do you want to recommit to? Which of these areas is calling for some attention from you right now?
