I was recently working with a client who was making a BIG decision. As we continued exploring throughout her session, it became clear that she struggled with three key things:
- Imposter Syndrome
- Fear of Not Being Able to Make it On Her Own
- Honoring her Security Core Value, not her Freedom Core Value
We have three conversations (maybe more) going on all the time. The one in our head, the one with other people and dare I say, the one with God (insert Higher Power, Universe or whatever the “bigger” conversation is for you). Each of these conversations contributes to the decisions we make, the way we show up in life, and the way we design our future. Sometimes these conversations get in the way and sometimes they propel us forward.
I’m voting that a lot of the time, the conversation in our head takes us to a negative belief system. Do any of these things sound familiar?
- What if I don’t make it?
- It needs to be perfect before I start!
- I’m not “good enough” for that!
- She/He/They are “way better” at this than I am!
Many times, we need a trusted friend, coach, therapist, pastor or even a stranger to remind us of our brilliance! I believe your brilliance is calling out to be EXPOSED! Others see your brilliance, many times before you do, because that conversation in your head is talking louder.
And then we have the larger conversation. I believe that this could reside in the “soul space” conversation. The purpose of your soul. The design of your life. The “why am I here” piece. Friends, if our brilliance is hiding, everyone is missing out! I believe that now, more than ever, it’s time to expose your brilliance.
Here are the five things I do daily to make sure my brilliance is exposed, and that I am activating the conversations I want to be having:
- Spend at least 5-10 minutes each day journaling, meditating, praying or something that connects my mind, body and soul together.
- Make sure I write down 5 things each day that I am grateful for. This keeps me grounded and connected to my inner core.
- Exercise (often as simple as a 30-minute walk), drink water and fuel my body with nutrient-filled foods
- Connect with friends who see and support my brilliance—even if it’s a text message
- Find at least one thing in someone else that I can highlight in them
As you read this list, are you able to identify something that is useful for you and could be integrated into your life? It may be a modified version of what I’m doing. Find what works for you. Let’s expose the bright, beautiful, brilliant YOU!
