I work with people of many different professions, ages, and walks of life. Despite all the differences, there are common threads when it comes to finishing projects, engaging with collaborations, and not giving up. Despite the long list I could provide you with why my clients struggle to finish their goals, I’ve come to realize there is one thing that clearly comes up time and time again for those that succeed. It’s quite simple.
It comes down to COMMITMENT.
When people are committed to something, they see it through. They have made an intentional choice to figure it out, apply their core values and believe in the process. They are committed to staying IN it, whatever the “it” may be. On a broader scale, they are committed to living life—and a full one at that.
One recent example comes from a client who was extremely busy and taking arrows from all sides related to a project. It would have been very easy to put up the “I surrender” flag and walk away. She chose not to. The reason was due to the stakes around the project, the impact it was creating, and that she was COMMITTED to seeing it through because she believed in what it was and who would benefit. The ripples of goodness, greatness, and impact that have emerged from her commitment on this project have been nothing short of amazing.
I believe commitment:
- Keeps us moving forward
- Unleashes creativity
- Reminds us of how resilient and brilliant we really are
- Builds confidence
- Brings us to deeper connection with body, mind and spirit
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that yes, we need good discernment and check ins to make sure what we are committed to is what we want to be committed to and somehow an ego piece hasn’t taken over. When we are committed to the process—and, dare I say, life—we do win. Our communities win. Our world wins.
What are you committed to today?
