You get to pick the word that comes after “becoming” for today’s blog because at the core of our conversation together, it’s about the concept of not chasing something but rather becoming it.
I invite you to step back from that for a minute. How many times have we “chased” something? Love, harmony, peace, hope…and yet, do we ever really get there? It’s a destination that really doesn’t have an end or start point. This is because it isn’t about arriving somewhere or completely being at “that” place. It’s about the way we show up in the world. It’s about our way of “being.” When we choose to become that which we are seeing, it naturally evolves and becomes such a part of us that it’s fully integrated.
Why would I chase brilliance when I can become brilliance? Not only live in that place myself, but also be that for others.
If you’ve read James Clear’s book Atomic Habits (one of my favorites), he shares one key insight that resonates for today:
“Every action you take is a vote for the person you want to become.”
Let that sink in.
If we want to become brilliance, every small decision—every little habit—moves us towards how we will be in the world or away from it. I don’t know about you, but I’d love my decisions and habits to support being brilliant in the world. Dare I say we are all already brilliant and yet, how many times do our actions show the contrary? Perhaps it’s because we are focused on an outcome or seeking another’s approval. Or maybe we’ve forgotten that the world wants our voice.
I am calling all of us forth to become brilliance. To support our journey, I put together 3 journal prompts for you to explore. If you choose to do this fun work, start with the words I’ve written and then just keep writing until there isn’t anything else there in the moment. I invite you to do each one separately. Maybe even with space in between to give your subconscious time to take it all in.
Prompt One:
I chase brilliance when…
(This may give you insight into the shadow side of brilliance)
Prompt Two:
I feel brilliant when…
(This may give insight into the daily habits and decisions that matter)
Prompt Three:
I become brilliance when…
(You are on the path! What are the ways you can embrace brilliance even more?)
I’d love to hear about your writing journey. What are you noticing? Keep SHINING in your brilliance!
